~* Alright, so this is my first reader insert story ever; go easy on me. Sorry if it sucks but, hey, what can you do? In any case, I hope you enjoy. No warnings except maybe falling in love. Good luck *~

You stared at the lovely little accessory through the glass window. Oh, how badly you had wanted that ring; golden band, diamond in the middle, cut perfectly and shimmering as the light bounced off of its edges. It had been months since you had spotted the beauty in the glass case, and it had never looked as precious as it did now.

Sighing, you walked away with a trudge in your step. Try as you might, there was no way possible that you would be able to get your hands on something that expensive. Although you didn't have the money, it seemed very convenient for window shopping. Who knew? It would probably take you a few years to work up some cash for that pricey devil.

You kept walking down the side of the street, criss-crossing your way through pedestrian traffic as you bumped into a familiar face.

"Hola, chica! It's been a while!" said Antonio, the usual wide grin spread across his face. His eyes sparkled almost as much as the diamond ring upon seeing you.

"Hey Toni, what's up?" You grinned back at the nation. If anyone really knew how to make you smile, it was him. His smile in and of itself was infectious enough, let alone the shine in those bright green orbs of his. "I heard you and Roma have been getting along better lately?" you asked. He sighed and reached his hand up to scratch the back of his head. "Ah, I don't know about that. He got pretty mad at me the other day because I wouldn't give him anymore tomatoes. It's not my fault he was getting a stomach ache from them, he didn't have to yell at me!" he protested, frowning at the thought of the Italian country getting sick.

Laughing, you patted him on the back. "You did alright, I'm sure he appreciates it. Deep, deep down inside…somewhere…" Toni beamed at you, causing your cheeks to turn a light, yet unnoticeable, shade of pink.

There was no doubt you had had a crush on this man since the very day you laid eyes on him. From his seemingly perfect skin, to his eyes, his hair…

Eventually you shook yourself out of your daydream, blinking a few times as to not cause any reason for suspicion. The nation shrugged, taking your arm and pulling you out of the way of the crowded sidewalk. "So what have you been searching for, chica? I walk down this road almost everyday, and each time I do I catch a glance of you staring into that window over there. Something caught your eye?"

Oh god, he had been watching you?! You turned your body around and pointed to the store in a half-hearted attempt to hide your blush casually. "Th-that store? There's a ring in there that I really like, but I might as well forget about it. It's way too expensive for my taste. I couldn't afford anything like that," you remarked. Turning back to him, you sighed. The thought of the ring being far from your reach seeped back into your mind.

Great. And you had thought you were forgetting about it.

Antonio stared at the store you had pointed to. You were a bit worried, so you waved a hand gently in front of his face. He snapped out of his trance and smiled at you again. Whatever this guy was thinking, you wanted to know. If it made him that happy then maybe it could make you happy, too.

Checking the watch around your wrist, you gasped slightly at the time. You had to get going; you had gotten so sidetracked that you had nearly forgotten your job was still awaiting you. "I'm sorry Toni, but I've got to go. Work and everything; do you think you can call me later?" He nodded, watching your figure as you ran off through the swarm of people, glancing once more at the window that held the gorgeous ring.

Anxiously you waited by your phone that evening. So it seemed he wasn't going to call right away, but that was fine with you. 'I mean, it's not like I really care if he calls me,' you thought, 'if he doesn't, then what's the big deal, right? Right...?'

Suddenly, and as if on cue, the phone beside you rang with a loud alarm-like sound. You scrambled, hands going after the device like a dog to a bone.

"Hello?" you started, hoping that the answer would come quickly and not as drawn at as he answered some times before.

"Hola," you heard his voice chime. Inwardly you sighed. You did truly love that accent.

Shaking the thought from your head that was temporarily delaying your response, you answered with a light tone, "So, what would you like to talk about?"

"Actually, I was wondering if I could come over to your place for a little while. I have a bit of a surprise for you, mi amiga~." Blinking, you stared at the phone in your hand in confusion. Why would he want to come to your house? And why in the world would he get you a gift? Regardless, you nodded, and then quickly realized that he wouldn't be able to see you, responding with a shaky "of course".

Not to long after that phone call you heard a knocking on your front door. Running as fast as your feet could take you, you made it to the sound of the knocks and swung the door open. Antonio stood there, dressed in a dark black t-shirt and jeans, holding something behind his back. You blinked again. This had to be the most confusing thing you had ever had happen to you before. But still; there he ways with that fantastic smile of his.

"I got you something that I think you might like," he stated, pulling out from behind his back a small white box. If you hadn't known any better, you would have thought that it was the beauteous band in that store window. Unfortunately for you, you did know better. Upon opening the box, inside revealed a small, copper looking circle, with multiple colors swirling around it.

A mood ring.

You smiled defiantly, while on the inside you frowned. Really; you had hoped more than anything that it would have been the ring from your memories. Not that you weren't happy with this one. It just wasn't quite what you were expecting, is all. "Thanks, Antonio. It's really very nice," you said back. Toni took the ring out and gently grabbed your hand, sliding the ring on your forefinger. "I know it's not much," he began, "but I wanted to get this for you as soon as I saw it."

He thought of you…? He thought of you when he saw the ring? This made you curious. Just…how many times had he "thought of you"…?

"I love it," you whispered, "and…I think…I might love you, too…"

A smile washed over Antonio's face. "Mi amor, why hadn't you told me sooner?" His hands caressed your face, pulling it to his for a kiss on your lips.

This guy wasn't kidding when he said he put passion into all of the things he did. The kiss was fiery, making you melt on the inside; and frankly, you wanted more. Intertwining your fingers through his hair, you pulled back only far enough to whisper, "My bedroom is upstairs. First door to the right…"

The nation smirked, picking you up bridal style. "Si, of course~"

You know, they say that mood rings only change with temperature. That night the color of the ring was a dark rose red; passion. So maybe it wasn't the temperature after all…or was it?

I’m just imagining when Spain decides to get ROUGH that the ring explodes from the intensity of her temperature.
